A Colorado couple sued their 1-year.old son and his parents after their toddler was left in their Colorado home overnight and left with a double bed, a mattress and a blanket for more than two days.
In addition, the child was left without a diaper for about two days and had a bed for nearly a week, the lawsuit said.
“I have not slept a single night since this happened,” the boy’s mother, Danielle Brown, told The Associated Press.
Brown told the AP that her son has been unable to sleep since Thanksgiving and is having trouble breathing.
The family had just gotten back from a trip to New Zealand and were trying to find new accommodations, she said.
Brown said she and her husband have also been dealing with a new, non-infectious, illness, and that the toddler is now at risk of spreading a severe form of the coronavirus.
She said the family’s only health insurance does not cover the cost of a new bed, but they are considering obtaining it, adding that she and the family will be moving if they can find an affordable place.
The lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Denver does not include a list of medical costs.
